Dan:

Hey everybody, Dan Henry here, and I'm here with Torbin carb who is able to take his online course revenue from about $2,000 per month up to $18,000 per month. And today we're going to talk about some of the things he did and the changes that were made that allowed him to scale to such a higher level than he was at. How are you doing man?

 

Torben:

Yeah. Great. Thank you, Dan. It's great to be here with you.

 

Dan:

Awesome. Awesome. And you're from Germany, right?

 

Torben:

Yeah, I'm from Germany. Wow.

 

Dan:

What part?

 

Torben:

Yeah. Do you know the October Fest?

 

Dan:

Yes. We have a lot of them here at pretty much virtually every bar in October.

 

Torben:

So I'm, I'm around the corner of the real Oktoberfest, so

 

Dan:

No. Okay. It's probably a lot better than what we do here in America.

 

Torben:

Yeah, I guess.

 

Dan:

Cool, man. So I'm going to ask you a few questions about, about your, your journey here. And real quick, what is the, what type of course do you sell?

 

Torben:

So with the existing course that I remodeled and get it from these two K to about 18 K it's a course for people who want to start with affiliate marketing. I'm an affiliate marketer, my setup for click funnels and all these big brands. And so this course I took from two K to 18 K but I want to change in the future and go to something more, more to this here in my heart. Gotcha, gotcha.

 

Dan:

To go from two K to 18 K with the same program. That's pretty impressive. Let me ask you this. You're in our sold-out courses program. What was the big problem that you had with, with your course and with your marketing and all that prior to joining sold-out courses?

 

Torben:

So prior to solar courses, I am hadn't an audio course that really taught me how to make an course in debt rate that my, my prospects in this course could get results too. So I was able to make these results to be good in affiliate marketing. And so I made this course and I couldn't understand that people who he came to my course sad. Yeah, it's not good. It's not it's not the way we understand it. So I was, I was not motivated.

 

Dan:

They didn't like the marketing and they weren't buying or they didn't like the product.

 

Torben:

They didn't like the product. So I wasn't motivated to go into the marketing and to say, yeah, my product is good because I knew it wasn't good. So

 

Dan:

Was that more just from people not quite understanding the material or,

 

Torben:

No, I think the problem was me, so I wasn't able to get the knowledge to them. Why are an online course? Because you can tell somebody and show them and be their one on one, but an online courses hold under a whole lot of things.

 

Dan:

So it was more like the formatting and how you explain things and whatnot like that. Okay, cool. Cool. And so that, so the, the issue you had was properly being able to build your product so that you could, so that it was good when you did market it, people would buy it that, would you say that was the main problem?

 

Torben:

What's the main problem? Because I knew it wasn't good so it wasn't right for me to go out and sell it any longer or scale it and something like that.

 

Dan:

Okay. Okay. Well that's, I mean that, you know, it's funny, most people would not care about that. They were just trying to sell it. And I love working with people who are ethical and who actually care to put together a good product that's, you know, that's what drives me the most in this business is, is focusing on more of the quality of the product and less on being hypey. Because when you have a great product, you don't have to be this hypey marketer and use, you know, have fire emojis flying out of your ears and all this stuff. So let me ask you this, why did you, there's a lot of resources out there. Everything from books to online courses. And you know, anybody watching if they're not aware, sold out courses is not a course coaching program. A lot of people get that confused. Probably my fault. But so let me ask you this. Why did you specifically choose sold out courses over any other training or, or option that you could have taken?

 

Torben:

So prior to going into solar courses, I followed you on Instagram and YouTube and I could really connect with you because you are, you're the type of person who if there's something like wrong or shit you, you say, okay, that's not good, that you have to change it. And I really liked it because there are so many people who say, yeah, that's great. You do that and you do it and then you wonder why it doesn't work. So if there's something you said, so people, so in your marketing, oftentimes on Instagram you say, don't do that and do that. So you're, you're the type of person who makes it clear and doesn't go like up and down. You're, you're always going to direct way. And because of that, I came into T into your funnel and then you're a great marketer. So it's like a trip and a really good trip. So not negative.

 

Dan:

Yeah. So, so let me ask you this. Well first of all, thank you for that. That's, yeah, I think a lot of marketers out there and people, they build funnels and products and marketing to make people feel good and making feel people feel good. It is great. I have nothing against that. But I dunno, for me personally, there's a lot of people out there that make people feel good. I'd rather make make you be good, you know? Like I'd rather, I'd rather be good at something than feel good because generally generally speaking, it doesn't feel great to really master something. It's painful. It's hard and it, it does require struggle and hard work and yeah, that's not what I would really associated with feeling good all the time. I mean, you know, if you ask great athletes how they got good at what they do, I doubt that the whole time they were feeling good, you know, they were, they were working their butts off, they were sweating, blood, sweat and tears. But in the end they achieved something so great that any amount of hard work, it was worth it. And then some, so, yeah. Let me ask you this, being in the sold out courses coaching program, what, what would you say specifically made it so effective? Cause you did, you did have a great result to go from two grand a month to 18 grand a month is a great result. And it's funny cause have you been on any of the coaching calls?

 

Torben:

Yeah. I I joined solo courses somewhere in winter time here in Germany. So since I think February or March and since then I I was at, I was not only at two coaching calls. I at every coaching call I was on. And the funny thing is I never asked the question because I watched every coaching call and I learned so much through these questions so I could apply it to myself and, and every time someone asked a question that related to me, it was it was like gold for me because I watched them.

 

Dan:

So let me get this straight. You, you get in sold out courses, you go through the content cause we do have several courses and recordings of the, you know, events in there and things like that. And then you listen to the coaching calls. Yep. The recordings. But you never actually got on and asked the question cause I don't remember you ever asking question. You were still able to go from two K a month, 18 Camry?

 

Torben:

Yeah, no, no. I was live in the coaching cards, but I had sometimes I had a question and then I, I asked myself the question if I would come on I couldn't explain it the right way. So I, I, I pushed it a little further and I said next week, next week. And so yeah, I only through explaining some of the other people. And your, your yeah, your way to explain things. It was able for me to make it a takeaway.

 

Dan:

I find that that in general, and a lot of people don't want to believe this or, or whatnot and it's hard for me to believe if I was being coached by somebody. But most questions that are asked, even though they're completely separate situations, separate products, separate people, separate stories and journeys and lives, they all really boil down to a lot of the same things. And so when you answer one person's question, it can apply to so many people that that's why we make sure that we timestamp all the questions in our coaching calls. So when you go through the recordings, you just look for our question and then you can go right to that answer. And you don't have to like just watch the whole recording. You can figure out where gold is, you know, right away. So that's awesome man. So would you say what made it so effective was being able to go in and watch the answers to the coaching calls and, and immediately get what you needed? What would you say that would probably be your biggest 

 

Torben:

In terms of effectiveness? So, yeah. Absolutely the coaching calls and the way you think about things. So you're, you're oftentimes someone asks a question and I sit there and I say, how would I do that? Then you take a moment and you say, are you doing that? Are you doing that? And so I'm sitting there and I think I would make, are you doing that? Am I doing that right, right. So so I'm sitting there and I think it's, it's fantastic how yeah, I, it's literally, it's a, it's a sight into your brain and how you do things. And that's the most impressive thing I, I've ever experienced in a, in a coaching or in online course, as sold as on coaching program. But for me, the coaching calls, the life coaching calls with you and collar, it's the most impressive and effective thing I've ever seen. So it's great.

 

Dan:

Appreciate that man. Thank you. Thank you so much. So as a result of, of implementing all this stuff you learned in sort of our courses you were able to go from two grand a month to 18 grand a month, and what would you say if you want, if you were to dive into that a little bit more, are you doing organic traffic? Are you doing Facebook? What are you doing exactly to get to that 18 grand?

 

Torben:

Yeah, so what when I, before I came to solve the courses, I had an I had, I have a YouTube YouTube channel and it's now about 1112 subscribers. And I made these one to one K, two K with like seven to 8,000 subscribers. But then I came into soda courses and I learned this new approach of Facebook ads and paid traffic and these poets and to, to realize what the audience really needs. And, yeah, I, I can't, I can't really say it's this one thing or this one thing because everything is connected and I think it's, it's difficult to say it's only this one thing that got me there,

 

Dan:

They collectively and doing it well, you know, it all works together. But you're running, so you're running Facebook ads, you're doing an automated webinar.

 

Torben:

Yeah, I ha I have an automated webinar, but I'm, but I, I bought it when I came into solar courses, so before I had a shit do you follow is L or VSL and yeah, it was, it wasn't that good. It didn't,

 

Dan:

Did you build it from scratch or did you use the template that we gave away?

 

Torben:

I am. I used your templates and I watched all the webinars in a weekend and all these resources and it really helped because yeah, again, it's like someone is telling, someone is saying something that he thinks is great and then you're there and say, this is wrong, this is wrong. You could do this better. And it all helps. So,

 

Dan:

Yeah, I honestly, you know, I've been in a lot of programs and coaching programs and masterminds in my life and I've always, you know, you get good information when you learn the basics of like, alright this is the concept, this is how you do it, blah blah, blah, blah, blah. But for me personally, I learned the best when I see when I know that and then I see other people attempt to do it and then it's pointed out if they did it right or not. That's where I really learned and that's why I wanted to make this program really centered around that in that, Hey, let's have a ton of examples of people doing it wrong and people doing it right. Cause that makes you really understand. Yeah. How to do it. Well, you know, everybody thinks there's a secret formula or a script and yeah, there there is, but you still have to perform that script.

 

Dan:

Well if you give a hundred actors the same script and you ask them to audition for the part, only one gets the part because that one performed it better. And people generally in this industry, they forget about that. They forget about the performance and they just focus on the script. And I think when you can watch the coaching calls and you can see the event recordings of the live stuff we do, Mmm. You'll see that, you know, the gold real gold is in seeing that, seeing it in inaction, in application, in execution, whether it's done right or wrong. You know what I mean? I think that's huge. That's why we made that a big part of the program. So let me ask you this going from two K a month to 18 K a month, how's that affected? You're, you're just your personal life and your, your at home life. How, how's it, how's it helped you?

 

Torben:

So as you can imagine, it's yeah, everything went from, yeah, it's okay. It's, I was a student and I was at a university and studied law and that was the first time when I got into contact with it. And so I went from, from the university and concentrated my whole business on this because yeah, my whole life you can, you can say, my whole life got from, from there to there because I, yeah, it's like, it's like you're opening a chest, a treasure chest, and then there's you and you're giving all the materials. Literally I needed to go really high with my business. For me it's like it's like crazy. What I achieved since this short period of time, since I'm a member of soda, curses and yeah, everything around it. It's, it's much, it's much easier. S U N S this big money problem. I think money is oftentimes a problem and yeah, it's, it's, I don't want to be like Oh, is this rich guy or something like that. I'm, I'm really not that person, but I think it's, it's like super nice to have, not to worry about that money that more. And it's, it's

 

Dan:

Vacation or anything. You do anything cool.

 

Torben:

So I plan to go on vacation this summer, but there was my business and I wanted to concentrate on it so I could have gone to, to to vacation. But I really like it, so there's no need for me to go right now. It's like, yeah, I could have gone, but it's not necessarily for me.

 

Dan:

You, you, you, you, you're busy building the business, right? Well, you know, you gotta 

 

Torben:

For me, so aye.

 

Dan:

Yeah, you got, you got to take some time to relax though, man. I mean, why else do we work? Right? That's all right. Awesome. Hey, I appreciate you coming on here and sharing your story and sharing your results and I'm, I'm really, really happy that you were able to, to scale from two to 18. That's a big gap and I think that you could definitely turn, you know, eventually you can, you can add a zero to that. You know, it's, it's, it's really not out of reach. Look, man, if you can make 18 grand a month, you can make 180 grand a month. I mean, that's, you know, it's, it's that initial scale that getting over that hump and then, yeah, everything else just becomes a matter of doing more of what works. So. All right, man. Awesome.
